'diGIT IT Lab' Project Initiative
Sri Lanka is blessed with a very inquisitive younger generation. They are the future caretaker of our motherland and the world. It is therefore important to nurture these young minds so that they can be world leaders. Information Technology is one area in which these young minds can be sharpened further and it is imperative that they are exposed to IT from a young age.
A great effort is carried out by the Sri Lankan government to ensure that all schools are fitted with computers so that students can make full use of the latest technologies. However, it is a step by step process and will take a longer period of time unless each of us can do our part to make it a reality for all schools to be fitted with an IT lab.
diGIT magazine has been growing steadily ever since its inception in February 2009. The magazine is in existence due to the kind cooperation of the contributors who submit articles on a regular basis. No payment is made to any contributor. Due to the ever increasing hit rate to the website and due to many students now eagerly reading each month’s diGIT magazine (offline using pdf version), we feel that placing advertisements would be money well spent for any party that has focus on IT and education. So since we have minimum costs maintaining the magazine, we felt that it was appropriate and worthy to allocate the profits from the advertisements towards a CSR project.
Therefore, we are glad to introduce the ‘diGIT IT Lab’ project initiative. Our target would be to provide an IT lab (with a minimum of 6 computers) to a school (out of Colombo) which has no computing facility. All profits received from advertisements (and donations) would go towards this project. We would like to say that we hope to open a 100 of these IT labs but lets take it step by step, see where we can improve, learn from any mistakes etc.. So our initial target would be to open 4 of these ‘diGIT IT Labs’ by the end of 2010. That roughly gives us a target of setting up 1 lab every 3 months.
Since we would be taking the profits directly from the advertisers, another added bonus to the advertisers would be that they would also be co-sponsors for the setting up of the ‘IT Lab’. So in addition to the exposure from the advertisement banners on the site and the free ad placements on the pdf version, the advertisers information would be mentioned when opening up the ‘IT Lab’. All press releases will duly mention the co-sponsors.

Advertise with diGIT magazine
